Dr. Lakshmi Pradeep

Dr. Lakshmi Pradeep joined Calicut University as Associate Professor in March 2022. She is presently the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism and a member of the Academic Council at University of Calicut.  She is a member of the International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).  As PhD supervisor, Chairperson of the PG Board of Studies and member of the Faculty of Journalism at Calicut University she has contributed meaningfully to enhance the academic ambience. While heading the Department her focus is on teaching and research while striving to enhance the infrastructure at the Department. Prior to that she was heading the department at Farook College (Autonomous) since 1999. She completed her Post Graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism as a second rank holder in 1994 from the University of Calicut. Her Ph D in 2012 was on the topic; An evaluation of the uses and gratifications of the new medium, the Internet. Her academic interests include digital media, communication technology, gender studies and the cultural dimensions of communication. Her research articles have been published in various journals such as Economic and Political Weekly and as edited chapters of books. She has coordinated UGC sponsored Refresher courses, seminars and conferences and also contributed as Resource person. She has contributed in the development of E content for EMMRC, and prepared study materials for University of Calicut. She has organized community extension activities and was the chairperson of Farook College Women’s Cell which was awarded the best Women Development Cell.
