About Farook College (Autonomous)

Farook College is a prominent institution that symbolizes the renaissance of Kerala’s Muslim community. Established in 1948, the college aimed to enlighten and empower a community weakened by colonial oppression and conservative local attitudes. The Rouzathul Uloom Association, the parent body of the college, played a key role in transforming the region’s social fabric by promoting a modern, secular system of education that served the economically and socially marginalized. At its inception, Farook College was the only First Grade College in Central Malabar and was originally affiliated with Madras University. After the reorganization of states, it came under the University of Kerala in 1957 and later the University of Calicut in 1968.Today, Farook College is the largest residential post-graduate institution in Kerala. It offers 22 undergraduate and 16 postgraduate programmes, and 11 postgraduate departments are recognized research centres offering Ph.D. programmes. The college has been reaccredited by NAAC with an A++ grade and a CGPA of 3.64 and has also been ranked among the top 100 colleges in India in the NIRF Rankings.
